The HP-SC32 is a simple solution for handling HART maintenance signals to and from field equipment and is often the primary method of choice. It is used to simulate input signals, but can also be used to simulate outputs if the host system is compatible with HART communication.

Capable of handling up to 32 channels through its screw clamp field and system terminals, it is a convenient way to integrate HART maintenance facilities. The HTP-SC32 provides a standalone solution because the MTL4850/54 HART multiplex is already onboard and only requires DC power and a simple RS485 link to the host management PC to get started.

Each channel provides two terminals that can be connected to a 2-wire transmitter, a 4/20mA current loop or a voltage input. Each channel is isolated, so it can be connected to any suitable point in the analog loop, and input and output types can be mixed.

The HART signal must be terminated with an impedance of >240, so a parallel resistor (usually 250) or a series resistor (if the input impedance at the connection point is <240) is set up on the board.
